CKXU Music Librarian (2 positions available)

Outline
The CKXU Music Librarian will be directly accountable to the CKXU Music Director. They will work closely with the CKXU Music Librarian to aid in facilitating many tasks related to music department at CKXU. These positions are in response to a growing need for increased storage in our music library.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Converting CD cases from bulky plastic jewel cases to slim plastic sleeves

  • Digitizing and archiving CDs from the CKXU Library

  • Categorizing music into genre and entering and crosschecking metadata pertaining to the musician of each CD that is added (includes identifying Canadian content, indigenous content, Femme/Gender Non Conforming content, Francophone content, etc.

  • Researching music and writing descriptions for incoming music submissions

  • Researching and reviewing local music releases for the CKXU Newsletter

  • Maintenance and general upkeep of library and assisting volunteers with music library related tasks

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to effectively work both independently and within a team environment

  • Must be goal-oriented

  • Effective decision-making and time management skills are a necessity

  • Effective and consistent communication via web-based platforms (email, productivity software)

  • Archival or library experience would be considered an assert

Remuneration: 32 hours per week / $15.50 an hour / 8 Weeks / two positions available

CKXU Indigenous Outreach & Production Coordinator

Outline
The CKXU Indigenous Outreach & Production Coordinator will be directly accountable to the CKXU Program Director. They will work closely with the CKXU Program Director to steer and facilitate aspects of the production department at CKXU.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for compiling and contacting a local database of First Nations based organizations who provide support, resources and services to the community. In addition, the Indigenous Outreach & Production Coordinator shall work with these organizations to raise awareness of the various community support systems available through CKXU such as Public Service Announcements, event support, and more

  • Providing support to all aspects of in-house audio production, including creation of on-air advertisements, PSAs, show promos, and station IDs

  • Occasional training and support for CKXU volunteers using the production equipment

  • Overseeing and organizing the production schedule as needed

  • The Program Director will work closely with the Indigenous Outreach & Production Coordinator to facilitate successful completion of tasks, timely preparation of audio materials, and the provision of necessary tools to excel in this position.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience with Audio Production Software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, Reaper, Pro-tools etc.

  • Must be goal/timeline-oriented worker

  • Keeps digital file hierarchies well organized, accessible, and named appropriately

  • Must possess effective decision-making, time management skills

  • Effective and consistent communication via both verbal and web-based platforms (email, productivity software)
