Love & Records 2018: On Hiatus

Love & Records 2018: On Hiatus
Lethbridge AB, July 05, 2018

It is with great sadness that the CKXU Radio Society announces that the Love & Records festival, originally scheduled for September 15th, 2018 will not be taking place this year. The station is proud of the legacy the festival has created in Lethbridge, bringing a free outdoor record fair, showcasing up-and-coming live local and non-local entertainment, supporting local business, attracting a variety of record, food, and general vendors from around Alberta and neighboring provinces, providing valuable volunteer experiences, and exploring and celebrating the many unique opportunities of incorporating community radio into the cultural fabric of Lethbridge.

The decision to take a hiatus is the result of a recent feasibility meeting attended by Love & Records planning committee members, members of the CKXU Board of Directors, CKXU station staff, and general volunteers and members in good standing - all of whom play vital roles in the facilitation, and sustainability of the festival.

“This was a very difficult decision to make, as Love & Records has been an integral part of CKXU, and the Lethbridge community for the past seven years. It has become very close to our hearts. The Love & Records Committee and the Board of Directors took a close look at the current state of the station‘s human resources, the many ongoing projects, and the upcoming community events we’re managing - unfortunately, we could not justify putting further strain on the station, volunteers, and staff during such a sensitive timeframe.”
